Every year, during the months of May and June, the waters of Isla Mujeres become a sanctuary for sea turtles. This special tour offers you a window into their mating season, a natural behavior rarely observed up close. You will mainly see Loggerhead and Green Turtles, two of the seven species of sea turtles in the world. Our tour is conducted with the utmost respect, following strict guidelines so as not to interfere with the animals. Why is this tour only available in May and June?

Because it coincides with the turtle mating season in this area. It is the only time of year when they gather in large numbers naturally, making respectful sightings highly likely.

Can you touch the turtles?

No. It is crucial not to touch or chase the turtles. We are visitors in their home, especially during this very important period. Our policy is passive observation so as not to cause them stress.

Do I need to be a certified diver for this tour?

Not necessarily. We offer the experience for both certified divers and snorkelers. Both activities offer spectacular views, as the turtles tend to stay close to the surface.

What is the difference between this and seeing turtles on other regular tours?

The difference is the quantity and behavior. While on a regular tour you may be lucky enough to see one or two turtles feeding, on this seasonal tour you can observe dozens of them interacting during their courtship, which is a much more immersive and unique experience.

In the event of adverse weather conditions that prevent the service from taking place, your experience will be rescheduled or, if you prefer, you will receive a full refund of your deposit.
